In the past, one of the five gates for entering and leaving the walled town was located here.
When the wall was knocked down, only one gate remained standing of the five that there were for entering Tolosa. What we see now are the neo-classical additions of the 17th century, built on the remains of the Medieval gate. The inside of the arch is from the Medieval era.
