In 1983, the Tolosa Centre of Initiatives reflected on the possibility of carrying out a performing arts initiative aimed at young boys and girls, as this was a group that had been forgotten up until then, and this led to the creation of the International Puppet Festival.
At its 34 editions, hundreds of companies have passed through the festival and more than 500,000 boys and girls have enjoyed 1,100 performances.
At present, it is renowned in Europe as a festival with the biggest figures and as a place of gathering and communication, as it brings together people from an endless number of places.
This recognition is not only limited to the festival, it also extends to the TOPIC, as the museums offers the opportunity to participate in international forums, thus increasing the international exposure of Tolosa and the Basque Country.
