The Tolosa Choir Competition

The Tolosa Choir Competition is an annual international competition that is held on All Saints´ Day.

It has been held since 1969, the year when Tolosa earned the right to participate in the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing, organised by the International Choir Competitions of Arezzo (Italy), Debrecen (Hungary), Maribor (Slovenia), Tours (France), Varna (Bulgaria) and Tolosa (Basque Country).

The competition has several categories: chamber choirs, children´s choirs, singing groups, and polyphonic and folklore disciplines. Since 2012, the Children´s Choirs and Singing Groups alternate biannually.

More than 44,000 male and female singers from every continent have passed through Tolosa. Around 90 concerts are performed each year, and not only in Tolosa, but also in the rest of Gipuzkoa, Biscay, Navarre and many other places.

In addition to the choirs, the organisers carry out several initiatives around the competition, in order to attract the public and strengthen the international impact.
