What we see are not remnants, but rather the foundations of a palace that ultimately was not built.
The wife of Idiáquez began the works, but her son decided to stop them. In love with Gracia Olazabal of San Sebastian, he built the convent of San Telmo, in order to be buried there next to her.
Under the foundations, the remnants of a Medieval necropolis have been found, as well as the remains of the wall that defended the town in the past, the hydraulic structure of a mill from 1332 and the remains of a magnificent Renaissance palace (that Alonso Idiáquez ordered to have built in 1530).
