FUN FACT: Did you know that the name “Tolosa Bean” comes from the tradition of selling the bean at the Tolosa fair?
The Tolosa Bean is a variety of pinto bean that is sown in the province of Tolosaldea. It is a product with a Eusko Label. It is produced between mid May until mid October.
The Tolosa Bean has a dark purple, almost black colour, is oval shaped and smooth to the touch. Above all, it stands out for its flavour. It has a thin skin, therefore you do not need to leave it out to soak overnight in order for it to soften (unlike many other varieties).
The Association and the Brotherhood of the Tolosa Bean has carried out great work in recent years around the Tolosa Bean..
